Lazy Days

Well, since we have become empty nesters our days have quieted down quite a bit. Jim has been busy reading books. He's currently reading "Outliers" and loves it. I've finished school until the beginning of January and have a list of books to read. Of course, I'm in the middle of a John Grisham book. And where's Scruffy? Right on the lap of whoever is reading. What an easy life he leads.

Brad's Farewell

Brad had his farewell yesterday, October 26th. He gave a fantastic talk on relying upon the Lord. Afterward we had an open house at our house. It was great to see family and old friends. Brad had great support from his friends, also.

Brad had 2 groups of friends both at the church and at the house.

Lisa and Brad's kids and Eric and Stacie's had a blast. They loved the twigs dropped from the neighbors' trees. After the Mitchells left Isaac and Ethan played with some of their favorites toys at our house.

Brad Received his Mission Call!

We arrived home from visiting Carl and Deb in Seattle to find in our mailbox an envelope from the church for Brad. He has been called to serve in the "New Hampshire - Manchester" mission. The mission covers most of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. On the map it is the shaded part. Yes, it is hard to see, sorry. He is supposed to report to the MTC on October 29th.

Isaac's T-Ball game

Tonight Jim and I went to see Isaac's t-ball game. Oh, how fun it was. Of course, we brought seeds to enjoy. Ethan had to try them. It was a hoot watching him try to spit them out of his mouth. Isaac did a great job, especially when batting. He hit the ball out of the infield. What a player! The first picture of Isaac is when he was on deck, the second batting, and third - gettinga lead on third base.

Brad's New Haircut

Today was the day! Brad got his haircut for his missionary picture. It has been a long time since his hair was this short. Looks good on him though. The top picture is all of his hair that was removed on a 12 X 12 piece of tile. Check out his NEW orange sweater. He purchased it for $14 at Down East Home. Gorgeous isn't it!

Aspen Comes for a Visit

Tonight Kristy and Ike went to Ike's parents 40th wedding anniversary dinner. We got the pleasure of babysitting Aspen. Thank you Kristy and Ike for letting me have my baby fix. That little girl is a sweetheart. She sure loves to have her diaper off. Yes, I even got truly initiated into babysitting by getting sprayed! Kristy and Ike, watch out. That girl loves the computer.

Brad's Graduation

On Tuesday, June 3rd, Brad graduated from Hillcrest High School. We had a nice evening. The grads were a rowdy group, complete with beach balls and air horns. Boy, those years sure went by fast. On Thursday Brad officially started college at Westminster.

Teacher Appreciation Day

Last week we had Teacher Appreciation Day. The students in my class voted to have a "Red Sox" door since I love the Sox so much. This is amazing since the majority of my students are Yankees fans. They all dressed up in red for class pictures, except for the most loyal Yankee fan, Tom. He just couldn't wear red. If you look hard you can see him wearing a Yankees shirt.

Aren't You Jealous?

This week my class went on a field trip that took one hour each way - by bus. Sounds like fun, huh! We went to Stagecoach Inn on the west side of Utah Lake. It is a place where the stagecoaches used to stop, a Pony Express stop, an inn, and the location of Johnston's Army when they came to stop those rebellious Mormons. It actually was fun, just cold.

Do you know how to make bricks?

Also on the field trip the children learned how to make adobe bricks. The whole camp was made out of them. It took over 1.5 million bricks. Next they tried candle making. A lot of work for a little light.

More Pictures of the Ski Day!

Saturday, April 12, 2008

A beautiful day on the slopes!

Today Jim, Brad, Ike, and Ike's friend Ryan went skiing at Alta. It was a "bluebird" day. The sky was gorgeous and the skiing was fantastic. It was a bittersweet day because it probably will be Jim's last day skiing with Brad for 2 years. Luckily they got some great pictures. Check out the number on the thermometer.(when I finish editing the picture - it will be here soon)

Priesthood Session

Just an update from the guys' side of Priesthood Session. It was a really good meeting, with two of my new favorite talks ever by Uchtdorf and Erying. Erying's talk was awesome, and really gave me good support on my decision to serve a mission. After the boring stuff, we went to dinner at Suehiro's and it was really good.

Overall, it was a fun night and thanks for making my last Priesthood Session before the mission a great one!

Mini Maestro

Later this evening after our Ladies' Night Isaac came upstairs and played the piano for us. He is amazing. He can play the piano by ear. He has already figured out how to play some songs. He can play Mary Had A Little Lamb in different keys. Wow!

Ladies' (and kids) Night

Tonight we have our biannual Ladies' Night with Kristy, Stacie, Carol, and me. Also included were Isaac, Ethan, Claire, and Aspen. We went out to McGrath's for dinner. We pigged out on fish. The two boys were absolute angels. When we finished we came to my house. The two boys had to go downstairs to watch TV and play dinosaurs. The girls stayed upstairs and played with the babies. Man, those two babies are darling. Aspen has a great boo-boo lip! I had to put in the additional picture of Aspen so everyone could see her happy.

Grandma's New Car

Today Jim's mom came over for dinner and to show off her new car. She has had an "86 Chevy Impala Brougham. She decided that after 22 years it's about time to make a change. (At that time Jim and I had only been married for 3 years. Kristy was only 3 years old.) The new one is a Chevy Cobalt complete with FIN. We had to go for a ride to check out the XM radio.

A Visit from Isaac and Ethan

Last weekend Isaac and Ethan came to visit while Eric and Stacy went out to dinner with some friends. Of course we had to have spaghetti and bread sticks for dinner. Then came the fun time - cooking. We made bunny rabbits out of cinnamon rolls. Boy, those two boys are great cooks!

Watch Out World!

This is Donna attempting to learn how to post entries on the blog. Have patience with me as I will probably mess up a few times. I have a day off of school today, so I decided to have Brad show the old lady how to do it.
